HOW WE CAN HELP YOU
At Back Works, our goal is to help you recover from injury and get back to your best physical ability. We provide friendly, professional service that is truly tailored to each patient's individualized needs.
Our therapists place a great emphasis on educating our patients about the nature of the problems that are facing, as we believe patient involvement and understanding are key to success.
HOW PHYSIOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOU
Physiotherapy is a provincially regulated, drug free health care profession. We use education, exercises, modalities and our hands-on techniques to help people recover from injury, restore function and reduce pain.
Your physiotherapist will use their advanced knowledge of how the body works and moves to perform a detailed assessment to diagnose your condition and look for any contributing factors to your symptoms. The techniques used by your physiotherapist are selected based on the combination of factors found in the assessment. Each treatment technique creates its own physiological effect in the body including:
-
Restore lost motion of the joints of the body
-
Improve the flexibility and mobility of muscle, fascia and nerves
-
Reduce compression on nerves and blood vessels to reduce symptoms and increase circulation
-
Correct any muscle imbalances that may be contributing to your condition by developing an individualized exercise program to stretch, strengthen or relax involved muscles as well as improve posture and motor control
-
Stimulate optimal tissue healing of tendons, nerves, muscles, and ligaments
-
Educate on self-treatment and preventative measures
-
Reduce pain by stimulating the release of chemicals (endorphins) that help relieve pain
-
Prepare the body for a return to activity
OUR SERVICES
A one-hour comprehensive assessment, detailed explanation of the problem and discussion of treatment options. Subsequent one-on-one treatment sessions are directly with your physiotherapist and can include as needed, manual therapy (mobilization and manipulation of joints and soft tissue), exercise prescription and instruction, physiotherapy modalities, education and information on managing your current injury as well as prevention strategies.
Individualized assessment and treatment for concussions and post-concussion syndrome. We use an evidence-based treatment approach and progression toward symptom free return to school, work and sport. An important component to this is completing a Baseline test before the brain injury occurs.
Concussion Baseline testing is available for individuals or teams.
Back Works offers running assessments from one of our registered physiotherapists with extensive background in running and gait.
A running assessment can optimize your performance, and enjoyment of the sport while reducing the risk of injury and lengthy layoffs while training.
Uses sterile single-use needles to reduce or relieve inflammation and pain. This is achieved by stimulating specific areas of the body to produce its own pain relieving chemicals called endorphins which help to block pathways that relay pain messages from the body to the brain.
Gives external support to joints early on following an injury or may be used if joints remain unstable following intervention. Bracing may allow you to return to your activities earlier and reduce the risk of re-injury. We provide Bio Skin braces, which are latex free and neoprene free to eliminate skin irritations and allergic reactions. Our physiotherapists will measure you on-site. Braces arrive as early as 24 hours after ordering.
