Physiotherapy at Back Works

Physiotherapy is a provincially regulated, drug free health care profession,

with a goal towards restoring proper functioning of the body.

Your physiotherapist will use his/her advanced knowledge of optimal body mechanics to assess, diagnose and prepare an individualized treatment plan to address your symptoms.

Our physiotherapists use hands-on techniques and a wide variety of modalities, along with patient-education, and tailored exercise programs to help restore proper function and reduce pain.

Treatment techniques are selected based on assessment findings to create the desired physiological effect in the body including:

  • Restore lost motion of the joints of the body

  • Improve the flexibility and mobility of muscle, fascia and nerves

  • Reduce compression on nerves and blood vessels to reduce symptoms and increase circulation

  • Correct any muscle imbalances that may be contributing to your condition by developing an individualized exercise program to stretch, strengthen or relax involved muscles as well as improve posture and motor control

  • Stimulate optimal tissue healing of tendons, nerves, muscles, and ligaments

  • Educate on self-treatment and preventative measures

  • Reduce pain by stimulating the release of chemicals (endorphins) that help relieve pain

  • Prepare the body for a return to activity

Back Works promotes continuing education, thereby providing our physiotherapists with extensive knowledge and experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Division of Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (CAMPT), ConnectTherapyTM, Neurodevelopmental Technique (NDT), Concussion Management and Dry Needling/Acupuncture.
